So this morning was not the best of mornings for me: my body was tired, even though I had an early night. After my day yesterday, I was just happy to get into a warm bed and snuggle up warmly. It has become such routine that I don't think about the fact that I have warm water to enjoy a warm shower, I have blankets...and extra if needed if I'm cold, I have warm pjs to wear, a roof over my head..had something to eat...while others don't.
We are privileged. We are blessed.
I'm honored to have people in my life who have such open hearts; and whose initiatives open up my eyes to seeing things just a tad differently. One of my close friends and her family have opened up their hearts to assist such a wonderful initiative: The Murraysburg School Shoe Project. This school currently educates most of the farm workers' children in the area - most of the children come to school bare foot and this project tries to provide shoes for the little grade Rs and grade 1 learners at the school. The project is asking for R100 donation (R80 for shoes and R20 towards socks). My friend was part of this venture last year too, and as a result - the project succeeded in providing shoes and socks for most of the Grade Rs and 1s: 71 pupils in total; and this year is hoping to better this total.
I've put down my name to help, because no one deserves to go to school with no shoes in the cold winters that we have. If this speaks to your heart and you would like to donate in any way, please do contact me and I will ensure that your donations reach the project; we are hoping to have all donations in by 30 May so that when the new school term starts the kiddies can have their shoes :)
Your contribution will be greatly appreciated, but also make a huge difference in someone's life.
Thank you to the Fillis family for sharing their heart with my friends, family and I with regard to this beautiful project.
The next time I enjoy a warm shower and the warm water drizzles over my feet, my thoughts definitely go to those who don't even have such a privilege.
We grow by investing in the lives of others...let's as a community add value, let's make a difference. Irrespective how small it may seem.
Let's instead do something - instead of doing nothing.
Have a wonderful Wednesday!
xx
